TEACHING

Aoki currently teaches at the Graduate School of Public Policy (GraSPP), University of Tokyo—an interdisciplinary learning environment where diverse academic fields such as law, political science, and economics intersect. It is in this environment that she, as a public administration scholar, teaches Introduction to Public Management, and Policy Process and Negotiation, among other courses.

The former course covers topics related to human resource management in the public sector and public governance. The latter course is structured around three aspects of the policy process: (i) macro-level structures, (ii) decision making, and (iii) pathways of influence. In teaching these courses, Aoki draws on insights from a range of social science disciplines. 

Prior to joining GraSPP, Aoki taught at the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and Department of Political Science. Besides teaching in academic degree programs, she has delivered lectures in numerous external professional training programs for government officials and public and civil servants from around the world.

She has received teaching awards from both the National University of Singapore and the GraSPP at the University of Tokyo.
